emily the band’s Latest Release: “deja vu”
Peoria, IL (February 10, 2022) – Over the past year, emily the band has transformed from Emily Antonacci’s solo project with accompanists into a three-piece indie-pop girl band. On Friday, February 4, our studio cover of Olivia Rodrigo’s “deja vu” became available on all streaming platforms, and we’re really happy with how it turned out! You can listen to it here.
This single is our first studio release as a trio— complete with live drums by Abbey Haste, ukulele/vocals by Emily Antonacci, and acoustic guitar/bass/vocals by Cami Proctor. Connor Billard and Cami Proctor co-produced this song, and Connor added some synth magic to the track. Ginger Batton of GingerBayStudios made the lovely cover art. We decided to record this song to celebrate the shows we played during our 2021 gigging season, during which we usually covered Olivia Rodrigo’s “deja vu.” The song allowed us to connect with new audiences and become stronger performers.
The recording process was a blast! There’s a special kind of comfort in tracking songs in Cami’s living room. Between takes of ukulele, guitar, and vocals we could decompress by playing with Delilah (Cami’s perfect cat). We also loved tracking bass and drums at Connor Billard’s studio, where most of our past projects have been recorded.
The best way to support this release is to add it to your playlists and share it with friends! We’re beyond grateful for all the love we’ve received so far, and we can’t wait to share more music with you! It’s coming sooner than you may think ;)
