Six Reasons to Make PML a Co-host on Your Facebook Event
Every Friday and Saturday I post and promote the list of shows that I know about for that night.
Some of them I find in a quick search. Most of them are events that we have been added to as co-hosts. Each week I tell people to add shows in the comments that aren't on the list, and I attempt to get them added to the original post.
Last week my list was unusually short and the comments were unusually full. It was overwhelming. I couldn't keep up and ended up just letting any attempt to add the shows go.
When I heard this week that at least one venue is asking all of their booked bands to add us as a co-host, I was happy to know that someone "gets it." I want to give more bands and venues both the motivation to get in the habit.
Here are SIX reasons you should be adding Peoria Music Live to every show as soon as you book it...
Help us find your event!
Unfortunately, just because you book a show, create an event on Facebook, and invite all of your friends... it doesn't mean that Facebook will let everyone who might be interested see it. Even when I relied on searching for live local music events daily for all of my information, there were shows I heard about later that never popped up through Facebook.
Reach new fans!
Someone recently told a friend of mine that fans just don't follow bands the way they used to in the 80's and 90's. I fully intend to bring some of that back. Our list of followers is growing quickly. It is likely full of potential fans who have never heard of you. We are going to make sure they do!
Show us you want our support!
Peoria Music Live has proven to be an often expensive venture on many levels.
Besides running Peoria Music Live, I'm also the owner of another business as well as a single mom with three teenagers still at home. I have a lot of enthusiasm for this project, but money, time, and energy are not always readily available.
Believe it or not, I'm human. Some days the only thing I'm running on is the appreciation I've heard from many of you and the belief that I'm making a difference. Every co-host request is a concrete affirmation that you believe in what I'm doing!
I want to use my limited resources to help the bands and venues who believe in my vision of revitalizing the Peoria music scene. That's also why I'm more likely to show up to a performance and take video for YouTube, Instagram, and blog posts when a band is on our list ahead of time!
The earlier the request, the more your show is promoted!
My goal is to post several times a day, every day of the week. That means there are plenty of opportunities for me to mention future shows and get people talking about bands. The shows that are on our events list are the ones that will end up getting the most press.
It's FREE (to you)!
We don't charge for posting and talking about shows. Why turn down FREE publicity aimed at your target audience!?!
In this industry there is a lot of ego. We all know it. I've already seen it. People who refuse to let others promote their events are shooting themselves in the foot. At the end of the day... the band, the venue, and the organizers are ALWAYS going to get the credit for a great show... and I'm fine with that! I just want to help.
Our followers get notified!
When I get several co-host requests at one time, I am careful to spread out clicking the "accept" button. Why? Because when I accept them individually and give a couple hours between them, they show up in the notifications of our followers as "Peoria Music Live has added an event..." along with the name of the event!
There are a lot of people seeing your band or venue's name who wouldn't have seen it before when we accept the co-host request!

Thank you so much for your continued support!
Looking forward to seeing how we can make 2018 a great year for live music in Peoria.
