Andrew Voras wrote one final piece before he finished up his second-to-last semester at Bradley and left his internship with PML to head home for the break. We wish him all the blessings as he begins a new artist management internship in Hollywood in January!
On Sunday for one of my last shows, I got the chance to stop by Tres Rojas Winery to see Emmalyn Paul. Her boyfriend, Ian Gregg, went to Bradley with me so it was great to see him and reconnect as well as hear her beautifully sing on covers and originals alike!
Tres Rojas had a great atmosphere and was seem artist-friendly. This wasn’t Emmalyn’s first time there. Emmalyn says that “it’s one of my favorite places to play”, and that it’s especially awesome in the summer outside on the patio.
Emmalyn performed some amazing covers at Tres Rojas including the topical ‘All Too Well’ by Taylor Swift, the traditional Christmas song ‘Away in a Manger’, and ‘My Church’ by Maren Morris, which you can watch below.
Covers aren’t the only thing she performs, however. She has two amazing songs out right now called ‘Mine’, a catchy love song “wishing you would be mine”, and ‘Haven’t Crossed Your Mind’, a heartbreaking ballad where we hear Emmalyn take her time building the song up before hitting some really incredible notes at the song’s climax. Emmalyn is “inspired by great songwriters as well as performers”, with influences including Taylor Swift, Kelsea Ballerini, Alessia Cara, and Camilla Cabello.
Gregg, a 2020 Music and Entertainment Industry graduate from Bradley, now works as a recording engineer at Eclipse Studios and specializes in producing rap and electronic dance music.
In addition to playing keyboard with Emmalyn live, Ian is also working on producing a feature Emmalyn recorded on one of his own electronic songs. Look for this song to be released soon, as well as a song called “My Eyes are Dry” Emmalyn recorded at Eclipse with engineer Eric Nelson.
