Last weekend we attended two events that perfectly illustrate what I tell you each weekend - you can see them in the photos and videos included here, but the actual energy of the day is something you could only feel if you were there. And I’m so glad we were!
First we went to Spring Loose 2025 - the 10th year of this music festival and fundraiser for Drew’s Plots.
Hundreds of people came out to enjoy the two disc golf tournaments, live music, family fun, food, drinks, and tons of raffles while raising money for a great cause. There was even a cake walk!
Every band was great. We got there just in time to catch the last song from Midnight Monks. We also saw Colt Ball, Easy Riders, and then Garcia Grisman Review (composed of Wes Duffy and Gio Marrari) for the first time.
The last band that we were able stay to see, Gravel Foot Cinema, was the biggest surprise. Jordan Bannister, organizer of the festival and owner of River Pirate Percussion, proved that as he says, there’s always something up his sleeve when he came out as the songwriter and lead singer of the band. We’re looking forward to seeing more of them in the future!
Saturday night, I took one of my daughters along to Emo Night at The 3300 Event Center. I knew we were in for a big night when I pulled in and saw the line extending from the front door, all across the front of the building, and far into the parking lot.
Inside we saw the venue more packed than we’d ever seen it before. It was a beautiful sight! The band, All American Throwbacks, is from the Chicago. But the lead singer, Reece Krider, spent some time in Peoria growing up - as did his father, Rob Anderson. Anderson had come across the country to join him on stage to perform a Blink182 song - about 42 years after playing the same stage with his own band!
Live music events aren’t just a place to have fun or raise funds - live music makes lives better. There is no shortage of fantastic live music in the Peoria area. We can tell you who’s playing and where and even show you a video - but to experience the magic you have to go!
Check out the photos and videos in this post while you make your live music to-do list for this weekend.
