Last weekend Kelly Schneider and I turned a night of dinner theater into a double date when we went to see Pump Boys & Dinettes at Barn III, a theater and event venue in Goodfield.
Honestly, there are so many cool things about this venue, it’s hard to pick which ones to highlight here!
The show, Pump Boys & Dinettes, was set in the “Happy Days” era, and while there is more of a theme than a plot or storyline, the songs are fun and the talent is top-notch. The set was amazing as well! (They are playing through the end of the month, so there is still time to get out there.)
Tickets for all dinner theater shows include your seats only, which gives you the freedom to choose what you’d like from the menu. We had heard great things about their food and drinks and between the four of us there, we had four different entrees. Everything was fantastic.
I would love to show you photos of our food, but I have a problem… when people put food in front of me, I eat it… immediately.
I DID get a photo of the cracker basket and the cheese and butter provided… pardon the cracker hiding the scoop I had already taken out of the cheese.
The venue is housed in a large, restored barn. And while the barn theme is seen throughout, they’ve managed to upscale it in a way that makes the entire place versatile. The Barn III keeps its rustic charm while providing modern amenities and multiple levels to enjoy the entertainment.
Barn III often receives positive reviews, especially for its cozy atmosphere and friendly staff. We were excited to see a few people we’ve met over the years through the Peoria Area music scene.
The foyer and ticketing area is a comfortable gathering place. Great for pre and post-show socializing and group pictures.
While we didn’t explore the outside much, we were told that they have plenty of room for outdoor shows and that the lighted barn and silo are set up to have a light show several times a year. You can read more about that here.
The Barn III Theater Company, founded in 1975, produces a variety of shows throughout the year, including musicals, comedies, and dramas.
While they are often preparing for or performing shows for their dinner theater, Barn III actually hosts a variety of events, including private events such as weddings and corporate functions.
The theater has a seating capacity of 220, and there is also a banquet room that can accommodate up to 350 guests.
The venue features a full bar and catering services are available. We also love the large, beautiful patio and courtyard. You can find event reservation info on their website at www.thebarniii.com
Look through these photos from our evening at Barn III and the performance of Pump Boys and Dinettes starring Dan Challacombe, Tamra Challacombe, Rich Diepenbrock, Sagan Drake, Jimmy LaHood, and John Massaglia
If you're looking for a unique and charming venue in the Poria area, Barn III may be a great option for your next event.
We even discussed seeing live music out there sometime soon. Check out the photos above and imagine one of Peoria’s bands, filling the barn with people… or packing the courtyard and patio! Tell us, who would you like to see in concert while enjoying some great food and drinks at this amazing venue?
