Some quick facts I mention in this program about the economic benefits of live local music…
There are 400,000 people within about 40 miles of Peoria. If half of them spent $100 during the course of a year on live local music in our area… that’s $20 MILLION in our local economy.
According to recent data, locally owned places that serve food and drinks (like many of our music venues), keep as much as 79% of revenue local once it is spend there. That means $16M of that $20M stays IN PEORIA!
That is not including the huge numbers of people we are already attracting and will continue to attract from outside areas.
It’s not just the fact that we’re organizing and promoting that is bringing people in… it’s the phenomenally talented artists and fantastic venues we have here that you won’t find anywhere else!
Those are mostly about the economic impact… and the numbers and possibilities blew my mind when I did the research. But there is SO MUCH MORE to this whole Peoria Music Live thing than economic impact!
In case you didn’t know this yet, I LOVE PEORIA!
There is a lot of amazing happening here every day that gets overshadowed by stories that grab headlines to provoke laughter at Peoria or to stir up fear and anger.
Do you know what is greater than both fear and anger?
Love.
About six weeks ago I went to an event at Bradley called #LovePeoria…
That’s it folks… Love and Music… what great things for Peoria to be known for!
Thanks for your help making it happen by supporting live local music!
In this interview I also talk about how supporting live local music means getting out of your home, meeting new people, experiencing things you wouldn’t otherwise experience… and, of course, how live music can just turn a bad day around for anyone!
That’s it! No more spoilers… go listen to it, like it, share it, and come back here and leave a comment!
Comment with some benefits of live local music that I didn’t have time to mention!
It was only a 30 minute show and I could talk about the benefits of live local music for HOURS!
